Look out sidewalks!

Hello again,

Today was my first day behind the wheel. Also my first day off of the narcotic pain meds. Surprisingly, it's not so bad. I just took a light drive out to the bank so no like long car drives or anything. The Tylenol seems to help with the pain just fine without making me crazy loopy (which sometimes is really cool!)

Some folks have asked what a typical meal is at this phase after the surgery. I can eat about 1/2 cup at a time and whatever it is should either be liquid or pureed/blended up. It also has to be less than 10 grams of sugar and should be low in fat. I have to admit, I did eat one cracker yesterday because I just had to have it. A typical meal would be like a 4 oz cup of very low-sugar yogurt, a half a cup of milk, or 1-2 oz of meat pureed in the blender. Protein is emphasized as in any diet, so no real starches to be had.

I did have Catherine take a hamburger and a piece of fat-free cheese and blend it up for me. As gross as that sounds, it was really not so bad. I only was able to eat half of it though.

I have been very fortunate as I have tolerated everything I have eaten so far, which has included chicken, beef, tuna, cheese, and milk. Some folks are not so lucky so for that I am grateful.

I am happy to say, that I am down about 30 pounds since last Saturday so I would say this truly is a miracle surgery. Very drastic, but a miracle.

Keep those comments coming, it is keeping me afloat.

~~Jimmy

Sweet!!! I'm glad you're doing well Jimmy. I'd heard so many surgery horror stories that I was afraid to read the blog. But knowing everything worked out is amazing! I've gotta admit, the blended burger sound good!! Keep the spirits high Jimmy!!
